Marketers Fail to Capture Customer Behavior

I wanted to share this article about marketers in social media. Since I am in this field myself, I was wondering how we can do better in the future? Are marketers still not engaging with customers on an emotional level? What do you think?

Storify- one of the many sites I play with!

Today, I wanted to make a short post about a website I've been using to collect bits of information. I will even share some of the 'stories' I've made late on. This website is called Storify. Basically, the website allows users to search for content on different social media and search platforms and join them together into a story. You are able to collect images, postings, and even tweets. Since I'm a big fan of Twitter, this is a fun little website that I am able to build small project with. I use it to help in collecting data about different things. I could see college students using it to write a research paper.

The second link is a story I made a few months ago about the date 12-12-12 and how different people celebrated that day. Enjoy!

Google Glasses - The most amazing piece of technology?

Google Glasses
Link to interesting article!

http://techcrunch.com/2013/02/21/new-google-glass-patent-is-the-most-comprehensive-yet-for-googles-face-based-wearable-computer/

Google has been planning many big things for 2013. For starters, the company recently announced it will open retail stores in order to compete with Apple retail stores. Also, week after week, shares of the company continue to make positive gains for its shareholders. One of the most interesting projects Google has been planning is just starting to see the day. That would be the Google Glasses.

Google glasses have ben rumored and hyped about for quite sometime now. One of the first glimpses of Google glasses were at technology fashion shows.
Another time the general public has seen the glasses are on one of the founders himself! Sergey Brin was spotted on a New York subway a few months ago while testing a prototype.
Some of the features that were revealed in a released patent are as follows:

  • A few alternative displays for the viewer
  • The ability to use a video signal to display images
  • A scanning system that draws a raster into the retina of the viewer
Hopefully no one gets hurt with that!

My opinion: I feel that Google is trying to become a major competitor to Apple. They want to release something that hasn't been done before. This seems like the product to do it. If investors are correct in their forecasting, Google could be on the way to becoming quite a powerful company.

Google already has a large sum of revenue, however, this is mostly from ad campaigns. Ever since the Google Maps fiasco with the Iphone 5, Google has been making noticeably bold statements about other tech giants, mostly Apple. He insinuated that Android was clearly beating Apple in the smartphone market. I wouldn't question that assumption, however, that is a debate for another day.

Article for the day PS4 is a no show!

Today, I wanted to introduce something I want to do with this blog. Well, I scratch that, this is one of the things I want to do with this blog. I will post articles and write a bit about it. I have a nice Twitter feed (shameless plug @Camyz1 for anyone that wants to check it out) and I want to start writing about those articles a bit. Here we go!

Today's article is "Play Station is a no show."

http://mashable.com/2013/02/20/sony-playstation-4-fail/

The link to the article is above.
Today, the world was waiting with anticipation for the announcement of the Playstation 4. In between doing a bit of social media study and checking my e-mail, I frequently went back and forth to see when the announcement would happen. Of course it happened around evening time. They wanted to keep the world on its toes.

Instead of keeping the world on its toes, they stepped on them. Aside from showcasing a few interesting titles and showcasing a few features, Sony failed to give a form to the big product. The only peek of the PS4 was the logo. It left many fans disappointed and intrigued at the same time.

For one, this platform is it will be made easier for developers to make game. In my opinion that was one of the big missteps from the PS2 to the PS3. Many people remember the plethora of games available for the PS2 and the lack of titles for the PS3. To make matter worse, the huge price tag at the time was far out of reach for many fans. Many people simply crossed the system of their Christmas list year after year until it was basically forgotten. There were many features added in an attempt to attract customers back but these failed in the end.

Back to the PS4, another tidbit of information about streaming was unveiled. It will have the ability to stream Facebook and online videos. This comes after pressure from many fans over the lack of relevance in social media for Playstation. The list below are the titles a games to be released on the PS4.

  • KillZone Shadow Fall
  • Destiny
  • Diablo III
  • Knack
  • Watchdogs
  • a new installment of Final Fantasy (no surprise there)
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Driveclub
  • Deep Down
  • Witness

My Opinion:
I'm still not sure I will buy this system. I remember my first gaming console of a playstation (the square one, not he PSone!!) Also, since I have gotten older, I am more of a casual gamer. I bought the latest final fantasy game but I have struggled to find time to play with it. In fact, I think I may have forgotten the controls, not good in the middle of the game! Most of the games I play nowadays are on my ipad so the streaming idea may be good for me. The PS4 is to be released sometime this holiday season so it is something that may or may not make my list!

Hi, My name is Cameron Bradley and this is my first post on my blog! Yay! Ok, now that the excitement has calmed down, let me tell you a bit about why I started this blog.

I am building my own community and 'making my own social footprint' in the world of social media. I've been in the social media industry for a little over a year now. Everyday, I am constantly studying about the latest technologies, trends, news, and fun ideas that hit my Twitter and Facebook stream. It is definitely hard keeping up with everything but it is equally exciting because there is always something new.

When I think about it, social media really blows my mind. Imagine if the whole world was connected with social media. Think how much big data that would produce, man! But right now, I am only focusing my community on marketers, entrepreneurs, and people with good intentions.

I would like to use this blog to talk about social media and its effects on my life. I will practice and hone my social media skills with this blog and hopefully, it will grow into a nice network for myself and anyone that wants to join. See you tomorrow!
